Compress, Resize, and Convert Images and Videos Without Losing Quality
What Is Fash Studio's Media Optimizer?
Fash Studio's Media Optimizer is an image compressor and video compressor that also resizes and converts files in one step, included in every Fash Studio plan at no credit cost. You drop in one image or video, and it compresses the file, scales it to the width and height you type, and converts it between PNG, JPG, WEBP, MP4 and WEBM in a single pass.
Because it does not use credits, you can run it on every image and video you publish. Files up to 200 MB are supported, and images can be up to 8000 px.
How to Use the Image and Video Compressor
To compress image or video files, upload the file, set a new width and height if you need one, choose the output format, then press Run.
- Upload your file. Drop in one image or one video, up to 200 MB. The original size is filled in for you.
- Set the size (optional). Type a new width or height to scale the file. With Preserve ratio on, the other side updates to keep the aspect ratio.
- Choose the format. Pick PNG, JPG or WEBP for images, or MP4 or WEBM for videos.
- Run. Press Run to compress, resize and convert the file in a single pass.
Supported Formats and Limits
Media Optimizer supports PNG, JPG and WEBP images and MP4 and WEBM videos, with files up to 200 MB and images up to 8000 px.
| Setting | Details |
|---|---|
| Image formats | PNG, JPG, WEBP |
| Video formats | MP4, WEBM |
| Maximum file size | 200 MB |
| Maximum image size | 8000 px |
| Preserve ratio | On by default; turn it off to set width and height separately |
| Credit cost | None |
Images convert between image formats and videos between video formats, so an image stays an image and a video stays a video.
Which Format Should You Choose?
Choose the format by where the file is going: WEBP for websites, JPG for photos, PNG for transparency, MP4 for wide compatibility and WEBM for web video. As an image converter, Media Optimizer switches formats in the same run as the compression.
WEBP for websites and fast pages
WEBP files are usually smaller than JPG or PNG at similar visual quality, which helps pages load faster. Converting jpg to webp is a quick win for product and blog images on your own site, including visuals made with the AI image generator for fashion.
JPG for photos
JPG is the most widely accepted format for photos and works almost everywhere, from marketplaces to email. Converting png to jpg shrinks photos that do not need transparency.
PNG for transparency
PNG keeps transparent areas, which matters for logos, cutouts and graphics that sit on colored backgrounds. Keep cutouts from the AI background remover as PNG so the transparency survives.
MP4 for wide compatibility
MP4 plays on almost every device, browser and platform, which makes it the safe choice for ads, social uploads and sharing. Converting webm to mp4 helps when a platform does not accept WEBM. Videos from the AI product video generator can be compressed here before upload.
WEBM for web video
WEBM is built for the web and often produces smaller files for video embedded on your own pages. Converting mp4 to webm is a good fit for background and product videos on a website.
Why Compress Images and Videos?
Smaller files load faster, pass upload limits and take up less storage, which helps websites, stores, emails and ads.
- Page speed and SEO. Heavy images and videos are a common reason pages load slowly, and page speed affects both shoppers and search rankings. An image compressor keeps product and landing pages light.
- E-commerce listing limits. Marketplaces and store platforms set limits on file size and dimensions. Compressing and resizing before upload avoids rejected files.
- Email and ad platform upload limits. Email attachments and ad platforms cap file sizes too. When you need to reduce video file size for an ad upload or an email, compress it first. This works for ads made with the AI UGC try-on video generator and the AI video ad generator too.
- Storage. Smaller files take less space in your storage and asset library, and they are faster to share. Running a video compressor on long clips saves the most space.
Resize Without Distortion
To resize image or video files without distortion, keep Preserve ratio on: when you change the width, the height updates to match, and the other way around.
Preserve ratio is on by default, so the aspect ratio stays locked while you resize. Turn it off only when you need an exact width and height that do not match the original shape, and expect the content to stretch or squash to fit.
Resizing changes the size of the file, not what is in it. To make an image larger with more detail, use the AI image upscaler. To change the aspect ratio by adding new content instead of stretching, use the AI image extender.
