Swap Faces in a Single Click
What Is AI Face Swap?
AI face swap is a Fash Studio tool that replaces the face in one photo with a face from another. You upload a Source Face and a Target Photo, and the AI blends the new face in, matching skin tone and lighting, while the hair, body, outfit and background stay untouched.
Fash Studio's face swap online tool works on photos and starts with one click on Run. Brands and creators use it to change who appears in a shot while the styling, outfit and set stay as they were photographed. Each run uses credits from your Fash Studio balance.
How to Swap Faces in a Photo
Swapping faces in a photo takes three steps: upload the source face, upload the target photo, then press Run.
- Upload the source face. Add a photo of the face that should appear in the final result to the Source Face box. A clear, front-facing photo works best.
- Upload the target photo. Add the photo with the face you want to replace to the Target Photo box. The hair, body, outfit and background of this photo stay in the result.
- Run the swap. Press Run. The AI blends the source face into the target photo and matches it to the skin tone and lighting of the scene.
How AI Face Swap Keeps Photos Realistic
Face swap artificial intelligence keeps a photo realistic by matching the new face to the skin tone and lighting of the target photo and leaving everything else untouched.
Skin tone matching
A face in a different skin tone from the neck and hands around it looks pasted on. The AI matches the skin tone of the new face to the target photo, so the face and the rest of the person read as one.
Lighting matching
Light direction, softness and color differ from photo to photo. The AI matches the lighting of the new face to the target photo, so the face sits in the same light as the rest of the scene instead of carrying the light from the source photo.
Everything else untouched
The tool is built to swap face only. Hair, body, outfit and background in the target photo stay untouched, so the styling, the product and the set in the original shot are exactly as they were.
Face Swap Use Cases for Brands and Creators
Brands and creators exchange faces on photos to reuse strong shots with a different face, without planning a new shoot.
Consistent brand faces across campaign shots
Campaign images often come from different shoots, days and talent. With the consent of the person involved, the same brand face can be placed across these shots, so the campaign shows one consistent face while every outfit and set stays as photographed. To show new garments on that model, use AI virtual try-on.
Localized creatives
Regional campaigns sometimes need different talent for different markets. Swapping the face in an approved image, with the consent of the new talent, gives each market its own version while the outfit, styling and background stay the same. For creator-style video ads in each market, use the AI UGC video generator.
Creator content
Creators can put their own face onto shots they already have, such as a scene photographed with a stand-in who agreed to the edit. A photo face swap keeps the outfit and setting of the original, so one shot can be reused for new posts. To turn the photo into a short video, animate it with Kling motion control.
Concept and mood images
Mood boards and concept images come together faster when faces can change without a reshoot. Using photos of candidates who have agreed, face swap pictures show how a different face looks in a planned setting and styling before talent is booked. Tips for Better Face Swap Photos
A swap face AI result is only as good as its inputs: a front-facing source face, a similar head angle, good light and high resolution.
Front-facing source face
A front-facing source face shows the eyes, nose and mouth clearly and evenly. Avoid source photos where the face is turned away, cropped, or partly hidden by hair, hands or sunglasses.
Similar head angle
The new face has to fit the head in the target photo. A source face at a similar head angle to the target, such as front to front or three-quarter to three-quarter, gives the AI a closer match.
Good light
Even, soft light on the source face shows its features clearly. Harsh shadows or strong colored light hide detail the AI needs, even though the result is matched to the lighting of the target photo.
High resolution
The target photo sets the quality of the final face swap photo, so use the sharpest, highest-resolution file you have. To sharpen a result further, run it through the AI image upscaler.
Face Swap vs Model Swap vs Character Swap
Face Swap changes only the face, Model Swap changes the face, skin tone and body, and Character Swap changes the whole person including the clothing.
| Tool | What changes | What stays |
|---|---|---|
| Face Swap | Face only | Hair, body, outfit and background |
| Model Swap | Face, skin tone and body | Clothing, accessories, pose and background |
| Character Swap | Face, body and clothing | Background |
Choose by how much of the person should change. For a new body as well as a new face, use AI model swap. For a new person in a new outfit, use AI character swap.
Using Face Swap Responsibly
Use AI face swap only on photos you have the rights to, with the consent of every person whose face or photo you edit.
Users must have the rights and consent to edit the people in their photos, including the person in the source face photo and the person in the target photo. Face swap should never be used to impersonate someone, mislead viewers or place a person in content they did not agree to. Do not use photos of public figures or of anyone who has not given permission. For commercial work, keep model releases and usage agreements on file for everyone who appears in the final image.
